Who we are

Upper Hamble Canoe Club (UHCC) is based on the River Hamble, out of a building called The Bark Store at Quayside, Botley, Hampshire.

We offer recreational paddling for all ages and abilities, helping our members sample the many facets of the sport in a safe, coached environment, whilst having fun. The club paddles all year round and arranges many trips to other waters in order to experience all aspects of the sport, including placid water and canal-type paddles, kayak surfing, sea kayaking, white water river running, canoe camping and indoor pool sessions.

Membership

We run both Full and Associate memberships. Full members are welcome to paddle with the club during all canoeing sessions, while Associate members do not join in with sessions, just using the club facilities to store boats and other small watercraft. Taster sessions provide an opportunity to come along and meet us and see if you would like to become a member.

Coaching

Our coaching sessions aim to be informative and fun. Every one is taken by at least one trained leader, who will help you gain and build upon your skills to really make the most of your time on the water.

Members are offered coaching and encouragement as they progress through the BC (British Canoeing) Performance Awards - including Start, Discover, Paddlepower and Cross Stream Challenge certificates - at a rate that suits their individual skill and enthusiasm.

Committee
The Upper Hamble Canoe Club is run by a team of dedicated volunteers. They manage the day to day running of the club and the long term direction the club takes.
