try it out
There's no need to buy all the equipment before you start canoeing - you can put a 'toe in the water' by coming along and trying out our range of boats, to see what suits you best.

However, the first time you join one of our sessions, you will need to make sure you bring with you a few essential, see our list opposite.

Important: If you have not previously attended a taster session, please do not turn up unannounced as there will not be spaces available. Please contact the club secretary to book a taster session.

What to expect
Our sessions have a number of assigned session leaders. These are qualified coaches and they will organise the session.
Please introduce yourself to these people, they will be expecting you if you have spoken to the membership secretary before coming.
The session leaders will help kit you out with a boat, paddle and a buoyancy aid which is essential for all club members. You will then be told what to expect from the session, there might even be a number of activities that you can choose between.
If you have any questions the session leaders are there to help, but any experienced club member will be willing to help you.

Where we meet
For details, contact us here.

When we meet
Our programme will give you dates and times of paddle sessions.

Cost
Taster sessions on Sunday cost £5.00 and £2.50 for under 16', paid on the day.

Things to bring:

Clothes for on the water – this needs to be weather appropriate, a full wetsuit is ideal if you have one, but some light weight shorts or trousers if you don’t will also work. No jeans or cotton can be worn. If it is cold then thermals or thin jumpers or fleeces are great.

Some shoes for on the water - beach wetsuit shoes or boots will be ideal, trainers with loose laces or Wellington boots are not.

A towel.

A change of clothes – although you probably won’t get wet on your first time out, you are still around the water so just in case it’s best to have some!
